Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026 (version 2026-10-08)
This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage World Explorer uses, grouped by the categories in our consent banner. Strictly-necessary storage is always active; everything else loads only with your consent.
Strictly necessary (always on)
- Authentication — Firebase Auth keeps you signed in.
- Security / anti-abuse — App Check / reCAPTCHA helps block automated abuse.
- Consent record —
we_consent_v1in local storage remembers your choices. - Gameplay state — local storage holds in-progress games, daily-challenge tracking, and interface preferences (theme, sound, units). This stays on your device.
Analytics (consent required)
- Firebase Analytics — aggregate usage insights. Loads only if you allow analytics, and not at all if you don’t. Honors your withdrawal immediately.
Functional (consent required)
- Optional convenience enhancements. None are enabled today; this category is reserved.
Advertising (personalized only with consent; off by default)
- Google AdSense — free players see display ads. Without your advertising consent (or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal) we request non-personalized ads, which are chosen from the page’s content rather than a profile of you. With consent, Google may use cookies or device identifiers to personalize ads. Premium members see no ads.
- Travelpayouts — free players may see travel offers after a game. The links are plain affiliate links; the Travelpayouts script, which can set cookies, loads only with your advertising consent.
A note on Google Maps
The “Where Am I?” game loads Google Street View when you start that mode. It’s a functional part of that feature (not analytics or advertising) and is provided by Google under its own privacy policy.
Processors
Cookies/storage above are operated by us or by Google Firebase, Stripe (only on the billing pages), Google Maps, Google AdSense and Travelpayouts. See the Privacy Policy for details and your rights.
